Hi everyone!
This first post is very exciting for me and not to mention it is very difficult to think of what to ‘teach’ first. I thought that daily greetings and introduction would be best for now.
I’ll write the greetings first in English then in Indonesian.
Good Morning = Selamat Pagi
Good Afternoon = Selamat Sore
Good Evening/Good Night = Selamat Malam
There is also a greeting ‘Selamat Siang’. Indonesian people usually use this greeting starting at 11 AM until 1 PM.
All the greetings above are in the formal style. If you are greeting a friend you could make the greetings informal just by saying for example you want to say Good Morning say, ‘Pagi!’. It’s actually similar by saying just ‘Morning!’.
What if you want to say hello or hi? It’s easy, not very different at all. Say halo or hi. Pretty simple right?
Below is an example of a conversation where someone introduces you to a person for the first time.
Alan: John, ini teman saya Alyssa dari Indonesia.
(John, this is my friend Alyssa from Indonesia)
John: Halo Alyssa, senang bertemu dengan Anda.
(Hello Alyssa, nice to meet you)
Alyssa: Halo John, saya juga senang bertemu dengan Anda.
(Hello John, nice to meet you too)
If you want to introduce yourself say:
Nama saya (Your name)
Well, those were just random! If you would like to learn something more specific, feel free to request it. Just leave a comment here or send me an email on ananda_astrini@yahoo.com.
Till next time!
Ananda
